how do you contact a doctor when the surgery is closed
When you need medical attention at night and your doctor is closed, RING YOUR DOCTOR FIRST, there will be information available for you about how to access a doctor to visit you at home after hours.
YOUR DOCTOR will have left details on an answering machine, so listen to the recording, one of the practice doctors may be on duty. Alternatively your call may be automatically diverted to the service that is providing the after hours care.
To ring us directly if there is no guidance from your regular doctor call 9429 5677 direct to arrange a doctor to visit your home, our experienced staff will advise you if you need an ambulance. We will contact your doctor the next day with details of the consultation.
Private patients are charged a fee for the consultation and will be able to claim an 85% rebate from Medicare.
If you are on a pension you will be bulk billed.
If you have a health care card the doctor will bulk-bill you if you are financially disadvantaged.
Cash, MasterCard or VISA are accepted by the doctors.
We do not take AMEX or Diners.
All doctors working for MMLS doing home visits during the after hours period on behalf of your regular doctor are fully registered medical practitioners who have recognised experience in general practice.
When you ring the service please have the patients’ details ready: phone number, full name, dob, gender, full address, symptoms.
We will ask for the name of the caller, any details related to finding the address and the name of the regular GP and Practice. You will be informed if there is a delay and will be advised if our operator feels you need to call an ambulance or go directly to hospital.
The after hours doctor carries medication, is able to repair a laceration and can provide comprehensive medical care. If you need hospital admission he/she will arrange it and contact your own doctor if necessary.
A full report of the consultation will be forwarded to your own doctor following the visit.
