The Guide to Local Government is a great way for Victorians to learn more about this vital part of our government as well as coming to understand how much their council is doing in their local community every day. The Guide includes information about how councils work, how they make decisions, how they are funded and how councillors are elected. It also includes advice about making complaints.

Find your local council

You can find your local council by entering the name of the council you are looking for or if you don’t know the name of the Council, you can search by entering a postcode, suburb or town name. Information available includes contact details, profiles of the municipality, population statistics and links to local websites.
