‘Cal the Stoner’ is a sculptor and artisan stonemason who explores changes in natural stone, through placement in different environments. Cal is working on a life sized tiger featuring exquisite Andamooka rainbow matrix opals. Cal begins sculpting when he discovers specific veins or individual pieces of sandstone. A large portion of his work is Grampians sandstone, sourced in Victoria. Cal instinctually follows the natural lines and features of each individual piece of stone to create them into new forms.
