The trail starts 500m from the Copperlode Dam car park, down a very steep ridge incline to the Crystal Cascades. Lots of steps and rocky ground. For the sure footed only. The returned trip is a tough climb up the same ridge. Best to start and end at the bottom. A swim at the cascades is your reward.
A testing hike both upwards and downwards. Not for the faint of knee ???? it was hot, it was wet, it was muddy but it was also quite spectacular. You will be protected by the rainforest canopy for the entire hike. 7.2km round trip. Took us 1 hour 15 minutes down and 1 hour 4 minutes up. We started from copperlode dam and walked down to crystal cascades. The start of the track from copperlode dam is obscure, approx 500m before you reach the dam on your right. I would suggest doing it the other way around so that you can end your hike cooling off in the cascades. Signage says no dogs allowed FYI. Take plenty of water and some energy bars and enjoy! A great calorie burner!
