    “I had minor stove gas leakage and used to be very odorous gas smell in the cabinet under stove after cooking. There was also a broken ignition. The guy Patrick checked every corner of the pipe and tightened up the connections and also changed the broken ignition. It was very solid job. He is very friendly too and left his phone if any problem. I cooked my lunch and no longer smelt gas leak in the cabinet. Very good.”

    “I went to Maxbilt Trading Co looking for a valve for a gas hose for a 2 burner Gasmate stove, I explained the valve was leaking, I was assured it was the O ring (without it being checked), the O ring was replaced and which didn’t fix the problem. Again I explained that the valve was leaked to again be assured that this would not be the problem. I eventually convinced them to hook it up and check and alas it was the valve. These can’t be replaced so was suggested I purchase a new hose for $26, I declined because I had seen the same hose for $16 at several shops, I walked towards the door and as I opened the door I was yelled at that I didn’t pay for the O ring in an extremely accusatory manner. I admit I had not paid the $1.50 for the O ring which I returned and paid for before leaving the shop. I don’t think I should have had to pay for the O ring that was replaced when I had explained that was not the problem and didn’t actually need replacing but it was a small price to pay to get out of the uncomfortable experience.”

    “Dealing with AGL Assist reminds me I should have checked the cardinal rule when dealing with tradesmen. Write down what the sales people say the technican will do, as he won't do everything. Before you pay him, make sure you CHECK ALL the work and get all doco before he leaves, as he doesn't give toss after he leaves, and the customer service is a joke.

    Only use AGL Assist if you're experienced with dealing with tradesmen. Not for beginners.”

    “Not good. A big disconnect between what the sales people do and what the tradespeople do. Make sure you get everything in writing!! A big problem is that all contact is over the phone, no face to face. Dealing with AGL Assist makes you remember the cardinal rules for getting work done:
    1) Shop around
    2) Get everything in writing
    3) Be willing to say no if on the day the price changes
    4) Inspect the work before they leave and they get your CC details. So you need to know EXACTLY what they have to do. Don't trust them to do the work the salespeople say, just because they are from a big company like AGL.”

    “Not recommended (unless you have money to throw away). I asked him for a quote and he said he could 'slot me in the next morning'. I felt rushed into it but said ok. later that evening I realised I wasn't ready to have my oven moved so sms'd to cancel. He showed up anyway- was obviously angry at the wasted trip and a day later I got a bill for $132.00! and a "Final Notice" warning of legal procedings if it was not paid. NB the service and value ticks should be negatives.”
