Clem Jones Sports Centre, Swimming Complex & Gym Carina The Clem Jones Sports Centre located at Carina offers a wide range of sporting activities. Established nearly 50 years ago by retired Lord Mayor Clem Jones, and run as a non-profit organisation, the centre actively encourages community participation in sport and leisure activities. The centre offers four outdoor pools ranging from 50 metres to a toddlers wading pool, and a 25 metre indoor pool for swimming all year round. Pool passes can be arranged on a daily basis or purchased in multi-visit packs. Apart from recreational swimming, the Clem Jones Sports Centre also offers a range of swimming lessons, from learn to swim classes for children and adults, through to squad training. Aqua aerobics classes are available, both in shallow and deep water. The centre also hosts the Carina Leagues Triathlon Club which caters from beginners to elite athletes within a social atmosphere. The program is coached by Warwick Dalziel, who has guided triathletes to State and National Championships since 2001. The Clem Jones Sports Centre offers a well equipped gym, with pin and free weights as well as treadmills, cardio and general fitness equipment. Aerobics classes are offered regularly throughout the day and are available on a per session, multi-visit pass or membership basis. The gym also provides boxing and boxing fitness.
