About Wungunja Cultural Centre
The Wungunja Cultural Centre was established in 2017 by the Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council to provide education on the Aboriginal Culture and Heritage of the Trangie area. The original Aboriginal families were from the Dandaloo area on the Bogan River (Wiradjuri people) and the Gin Gin area on the Macquarie River (Wongaibon people) The Centre displays a variety of Aboriginal artefacts that includes, stones, art, Aboriginal soldiers history, family history, carved burial trees. Merchandise is available for purchase and includes original art by Aboriginal artists Lionel Phillips, David Dunn, Tanya McMaster and Danielle Burford, all spend their youth in Trangie and were schooled in Trangie. This centre is unique and is worth a visit.
