We are an abstinence based residential addiction treatment centre. This is hard work. We only work with people who really want to get and stay clean, so if you are just dipping your toes in the water of recovery then we aren't for you at all. We do not fix you, ... you work hard on yourself and you change. We give you the tools to do that. This is a very structured and boundaried therapeutic program that works.

My experience of recovery with Visible Recovery (VR) is what I have been describing as a re-birth.
The type of therapy offered at VR is very different to that offered by psychiatrists and psychologists, which I have also experienced. In my 13 weeks of residence I was guided toward being genuinely vulnerable in a group environment and speaking out the truths of my addiction and traumas. The personal 1 on 1 sessions were crucial and mutually supportive with the group therapy. At VR the addiction is just a symptom of the greater underlying causes and getting to these is a journey that is necessarily tough, emotional and absolutely worthwhile.
The therapy staff at VR are not just qualified and experienced therapists, they are people with their own experience of addiction and/or trauma and so they can talk the talk and walk the walk. They understand, deeply, what you are going through.
I arrived at VR as an empty shell, ashamed of myself and full of avoidance strategies regarding feelings and emotions. Slowly but surely the therapy staff got through to me and I rediscovered a person willing to begin filling that empty shell with motivation, activity, empathy and to have the patience to be with myself, without other distractions, and not fill that time with my addiction.
We all have moments, turning points in life that are memorable. I have had a few. The outcome I have been able to achieve with Visible Recovery is one of the most important of my life and one I will never forget or for which I will never lose respect.
There is a depth of gratitude I hold for the staff at Visible Recovery that could never be put into words.
