Very disappointing. We knew Dr Remke from PMH and PCH and she was really great. However, seeing her for our son's allergies has been a very different experience. She rushes the appointments and is not very tolerant of your child if they aren't sitting quietly.
We did a nut challenge at PCH (arranged by Dr Remke) and our 4-year old ended up with anaphylaxis requiring an EpiPen and antihistamines as his airways started to close. It was a truly harrowing experience. We had a team providing intensive care and most of the doctors from that area popped in to the room to offer help and to keep a check on how he was doing. Guess who was there in her office, but never even popped her head around the door to see if her patient was okay? We then spent the evening in ED.
It's been months now and there's been no follow up from Dr Remke, no calls, letters or emails. This should really tell you the story. Despite the extra cost and delays, we found another immunologist who genuinely cares, really talks to our son and takes the time to listen to all of our questions.
