About Bill Botten
I began painting in 2001, aged 40. Despite a love of art, particularly abstract, figurative and outsider art, I'd not thought to paint myself.
Happenstance led to painting. It was an attempt to share a hobby with the youngest of my daughters, then aged 9. The hobby was successful but short-lived, both of us moving on, she to reading and other pursuits and me from it being a hobby.
It was a good fit – day job to earn money, painting at night whilst at home with my three patient and lovely daughters.
I battle to find a style. Having found a style I do several paintings and then begin the battle again to find another style. Occasionally I cheat and return to an earlier style. It is the original idea behind a painting that to me is paramo
