Artist Statement
“When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”.
I create paintings without brushes using paint that has dried before I manipulate it. I borrow techniques from sculpture, collage, and textiles, in order to exploit the inherent flexibility in the dried material. I am interested in creating works that shift across boundaries not quite belonging to any single genre.
My intricately detailed creations involve many hours of meticulous cutting and layering. Through them I subtly explore themes of instability, invisibility, and freedom.
