After going to SpecSavers for years, our medical health provider has changed from Medibank to Bupa.
Was sent to Bupa for my eye health check and prescription check.
I brought it my own contact lenses script, which they were not able to match. Instead they advised for a $33.00 charge (as it was not covered) I could get reassessed and get a trial pair, until we found lenses that suited.
I opted out, as I plan to return to SpecSavers online and order my contact lenses.
In regards to the frames and lenses options. I was blown away, not in a good way either.
The options that were covered for myself within no gap payment, were about 30 to 40 frames.
Nothing like the hundreds of options I am used to with SpecSavers.
I did not have any assistance in finding what suits the bridge gap in my nose best. I was just simply shown the area to choose my glasses from.
I felt extremely disheartened... and just grabbed two glass frames that were somewhat similar to the ones I currently have.
Then, to finalise it all, there are always lenses upgrades. Which I'm aware of, and usually happy to pay the small gap to upgrade from standard to anti glare lenses.
When I was told that it was $60.00 per pair, I declined.
That is when I decided that Bupa Optical was not value for money, not a family friendly experience, and ultimately not for me.
If I hadn't had such a pleasant time with the lady who did my eye health assessment and vision check, this would be a one star review.
