I ordered a vegan carrot cake for my sisters 60th birthday. I put in the order at least 10 days before I needed it. The day before I was due to pick the cake up I rang and spoke to the owner just to make sure everything was OK. He assured me everything was fine, on the morning of the day of pick up he rang me to say he was not happy with how the carrot cake had turned out and it was too late to make another one so he said I could have the choice of either a vanilla or a lemon cake. The only cake my sister really likes was a carrot cake but I had no choice other than to choose the lemon cake. It was terrible to say the least, nobody finished their piece of cake as it tasted stale. Yes, I understand vegan cakes are a different consistency to normal cakes but it was just terrible. We ended up totally wasting our money and threw the remaining half of the cake in the bin. It was just so disappointing. I was offered my money back $60 for the cake but I was so angry I refused it.
I’m sorry but I just couldn’t recommend Darringtons cakes at all.
