Busy Saturday morning and Consierge Christopher was so obliging and friendly and Lachlan, the loans officer was also friendly and helpful.
I went into this Marion Branch today, there are Tellers, Netbank kiosks, staff kiosks, customers sitting down waiting. Standing in the middle of the bank unattended, I was looking for a Business Account department which was clearly not visible from where I stood. There was nobody leading where the waiting area or queue up area was.
After standing there for a while, a random staff walked past and asked if i was attended to. I told her No. Then she asked "what would you like to do?" I told her I would like to activate a Business account. She asked if i had downloaded the Comm App, and yes i have CommBiz App ready but i don't have a password for me to activate it. I was told I will be given a temporary password by a staff and to have a seat in a corner, where i wasn't sure if anyone else was going to attend to me.
Again another long wait, a staff directed me to Karima, and we started with verification, and I gave her my Business Debit Card for activation. Again i requested a temporary password to activate my Business Account, and one was sent to my phone. I was told i can now activate my account with that temp password. I had my login ID in my phone which was previously sent by CommBiz, but Karima asked if i needed her to write down the login ID which i told her i had it in my phone. As soon as she wrote down the ID, it was completely different to what i have, and the ID she wrote down was my personal banking ID. I told her that ID is incorrect as that is my Personal banking ID which the account was deactivated long time ago, and i am now trying to activate my Business Banking Account. Karima insisted i had to put in that ID with the temporary password, which obviously didn't work. Following her instructions over and over again using CommBiz App which i knew all her instructions wouldn't work as I kept telling her I am activating a Business account which has got nothing to do with Personal account.
I was ready to walk out of the branch when i discovered in the beginning, Karima started the process wrong and yet kept fiddling around with my Personal account instead of Business account. After 50 minutes spent in the branch, i was devastated. The business account remained unactivated, and i was asked to call the 13 number instead. What is it so hard to understand - this is a Business Account, and it has got nothing to do with Personal Account. And the fact that Karima held on to my Business Debit Card, there is NO WAY she doesn't understand this is for a BUSINESS account, not PERSONAL. (I had to repeat this fact many many times.) If a staff from the front desk has no authority to deal with Business Accounts, please refer us to appropriate department, rather than wasting our time activating a PERSONAL account which was already deactivated more than 8 years ago! Very disappointing!!
