My mum booked Catered by Jacqueline for a family event last weekend. I have to say, the food was really depressing. At $65 pp, we asked for family style shared plates. But in all honesty getting a pizza van would have been better. We got food that felt very dated and had 0 personality. Since Jacqueline has not asked for any feedback I thought a google review would be the best option. I understand it is a small business but I do a better job at a Christmas lunch and I am a home cook.
1. The salad - squares of roast beetroot and pumpkin thrown in with bagged spinach is sooo boring. Add pine nuts, pesto and goats cheese.
2. The pork - very overcooked and chewy.
3. Chicken wrapped in bacon.... whyyyyy!??!?! this is so 20 years ago. I understand why its on the menu but make it look appetising and modern.. herbs! chives!
4. The greens- Cooking a vegetable until it is lifeless, soggy and brown is such a waste. Greens should be vibrant and have a bit of crunch. This was lifeless and just visually looked so unappetising.
5. Potatoes- You can't go wrong but so you know for next time... rosemary, garlic etc. I feel bad that I have to post this but my family are all foodies.
6. Prawns - these looked the prawns from a freezer bag with garlic through it truth be told.
Sorry about the harsh review but I feel this should have been $30pp. I don't know if you were having an off day but I really think things could be improved.
