Well, I am horrified to find out that I have been paying contents insurance on a home I have not lived in for 17 years. Apparently a renewal notice was returned by the next tenant (thank you) and then the RAC called the home, disconnected line. I cannot believe that I wouldn't have cancelled the policy.
Warning to others, if you pay direct debit and don't make contact to cancel, they will just roll over the policy. I don't even want to figure out how much I've paid out for nothing. I feel sick. You might be thinking, how could you not know? Well, I have been a customer for years with many policies and I guess I assumed I was being debited for a current one.
P.S If you keep getting mail fro a previous tenant, how about writing " addressee no longer at this address" . You might just save someone from this kind of horrible experience. :(
