All over the website and Facebook page is a helpline number. Call it and you will get somone who says they can't help because they are only on the switchboard. I was after a list of gps who have a special interest in diabetes. Apparently there isn't one nor is there any means of Diabetes patients reviewing any doctors. Despite the fact that eg Thyroid Wa keeps just such a list on their website for thyroid patients. I was told there is one gp on their list and he speaks 3 brands of Chinese. I am a white Aussie lived here forever. When I asked why on earth I want a Chinese speaking gp I was patronised " I can hear your frustration". So not only is Diabetes WA website 20-30 years out of date, extremely basic (see alternatively the British govt website which I give 10/10 and has heaps of discussion forums ) but the supposed helpline is a clueless switchboard lady who thinks a Facebook business page allows customers to post their own requests etc which of course a page doesn't while a group does. So if you are in Perth and need a diabetes specialist you are stuffed!
I’ve only been to the physical site once and it was great. All my other contacts over the last fifteen years have been by phone and I’ve always had a great experience there too.
Been using Diabetes WA since 1989 and they’re literal life savers, they need more government funding and consumer feedback praising them. Without this critical service, diabetics would have to rely on Dr Google and that’d be disastrous.
