I know it's mainly due to covid, but it's really sad that all museums and information centers about the great barrier reef and it's impressive diversity are closed for the public at the moment. I am in this region because of the Reef, and while commercial activities are all going on, educative center are all closed. I wish I could access to the Reef teach or Reed HQ in Townsville.
I have to say that I notice as well that a huge majority of affordable informative and educative centers are closed (bat houses in Daintree and Kuranda, wetlands in Mareeba, the cultural center in Townsville). The only way to discover this region is through expensive activities which don't teach you much. Made my experience incomplete.
