ARA Fire took over my maintenance contract some months ago when they purchased the business of my long-term contractor contractor. Initially they assisted me in fulfilling my Form 3 obligations for council, inspecting my premises and making appropriate recommendations. I signed a 12 month maintenance agreement with them at twice the price of my previous contractor (this, apparently due to all the new the Form 3 requirements). I sent 3 emails enquiring if I was able to pay via Direct Debit. Finally, the 3rd was answered. Every month, two people came to check my two exit lights!! Upon checking with someone in the industry, I was advised that I may have been assessed under old legislation requiring monthly inspections. This was confirmed by council who were happy with 6 monthly inspections by the company and monthly inspections by the business owner (me). I enquired whether ARA would recalculate my contract to account for this. I was sent a terse email asking me to confirm cancellation of my contract!
Maintenance? Good but excessive. Responsiveness and willingness to retain business? Non-existent.
