Quality control and after-sales service issues: We bought an AF18 Wonderfire three years ago. While generally happy with the performance, we noticed the ceramic front coal set had damaged ‘feet’ within a short period but it still performed ok. More recently one of the front set just fell over as both of the lugs or feet had broken off. We noticed the base of the coal set had cracking also and when we removed it the piece fell off as well as one of the coals and the remaining front set. Worse, the base plate was severely cracked and pieces had fallen down at the front, affecting the gas flow and performance (see photo). We had not touched any of these parts. They had merely fallen apart after 2-3 years. When our retailer contacted the manufacturer we were told that the warranty was only good for two years and we had to buy new ceramics at a cost of nearly $300. This is not good enough for something that costs close to $3,000. It is clearly a quality control problem but the manufacturer accepts no responsibility. Very poor after-sales service Dimplex.
