My experience with Parry's has been unfortunate to say the least. Deposit paid June 30, flooring is still not finished. Some of the delay is down to me but Parry's communication skills are sadly lacking.

Chris, the salesman at BUTLER store seemed competent but gave me slightly wrong information which caused extra expense. He left the company soon after to be replaced by a young lady who told me My order Would be cancelled and a new one raised. This didn't happen so I phoned the company and the promise was repeated, but again it didn't happen. Eventually it was sort it out and the fitters arrived sometime later Informing me that the planking I chose required 6 mm MDF sheets under to reach the correct finished level.

This caused further delay and $650 cost which I believe was an overcharge; anyway, they made two attempts but did not complete.

PS- a response to this review said that there must have been serious problems with my concrete floor; not true and mere speculation. I prepared the floor meticulously with many hours of effort and as I said, the problem was having to compensate for the difference in level by laying MDF sheets.

I didn't get the free measure and quote, can't recall why not thought would advise anyone strongly to insist on it before committing.

In their absence, an inspector from the company that built the unit came to inspect a broken floor tile. To my great surprise he found several other defective tiles and stated that they were Not Laid to company standards and would have to be taken up. So I decided to replace the tiles with additional timber flooring, an addition of about 6 m².

Justin at the BUTLER store wrote up the order and gave an installation date of August 20. He has been the one bright spot in this saga.

Update-

Called into the store a while ago and spotted 2 rolls of a carpet I had installed in another house many years ago. Justin made an informal arrangement for me to buy them & reserved them until I finished paying. He informed head office that I was ready to have it laid and just a couple of days later an email from the fitter said there'd be a delay because someone had called in sick. I knew I would have to lift the carpet and dispose of it myself but another email arrived saying the underlay must be removed also. That caused me quite a bit of work because the existing underlay had been glued to the concrete slab. Getting the carpet up was easy but the underlay not so and I spent hours scraping the slab clean.

The fitter arrived next day I'm asked why I had taken up the underlay so I showed him the email and he was as confused as me.

Because I had been messed around a little he said he would fit an upgraded underlay which I thought was generous. I had to leave before he finished the job but I was confident it would be ok; the only complaint I had was he damaged the bottom of both bedroom doors by leaving them up to fit the carpet under. I would think the installer would remove the doors & trim the bottoms but Justin informed me that they don't do this. I was not too bothered since I have a plane and was able to clean them up myself.

Have spent $3000+ here over the last year the lastest being about $900 worth of floor boards I ordered 1 extra box so thought algood ill return it after chasing them for a over a week they reluctantly took it but are charging a $27.5 “restocking fee” making my refund $50, still havent actually got my money yet I have to wait for a call from head office to organise the refund.
