After the initial experience at this salon a few months ago, today's experience was most certainly not the best. At an initial hair consultation appt and later hair appt back in Dec, the owner advised of how what the hourly charge would be and roughly how long it would take for the initial appt (approx 10hrs) and any subsequent retie appts (3hrs). At no point during this consult was there mention that these approx hrs were based on more than 1 person working on my hair

With that info, I was happy to go ahead. Sat for 10hrs (with a late start and some disruptions through out the appt to tend to other customers)with 2/3 people working on my hair. I paid for the service, based on the hourly rate advised x total number of hours(with a $50 discount).

Fast forward to today, like last time had 2/3 people working on my head (due to customer cancellations). Came time to pay, expecting it would be like last time time spent by hourly rate, I am advised that I would have to pay an extra $50, due to having more people working on my hair and I should accept it as a discounted fee as it should have been hourly rate for everyone involved. Me questioning why it was the first I was hearing this, why it wasn't applied at the initial appt back in Dec, was met by defensiveness, with the owner becoming upset and telling me I wouldn't understand the overhead costs invovled in running a business and that everyone who attends the salon knows that is how it works and that the price per hour for 1 hairdresser I was given was for people needing to get braids. What then is the point of having hair consultations if you do not break it all down for the customer. What makes for a happy customer and for a return customer, is having all info mentioned upfront - and not applied when they see fit (why mention it and try to apply it today and not at the initial appt). In this situation I was left to feel that charge being requested was to 'recover' or make up for the cancelled appointments for the day.

Edit: in response to owners comment now that ability to poat reviews has been turned off.

1. It is incorrect to state that payment requested has never been paid. As amounts requested on both occasions was paid in full on the day.

2.My ability to afford to make payment was never in question and was the work completed and shouldn't be made one.....

3. One however can not complete work in a lil over 3 hours and then expect payment for 4hrs...and in trying to justify the request for it, bring in calculations which were never mentioned before nor applied at the initial hair appt. (Which btw even your employee contracted by stating and I quote ' we do not charge by the number of people doing your hair but the hours taken.'

4. If total fee charged was indeed dependent on number of hours taken to complete the work and number of people involved in the process, why then was it never mentioned at the initial consultation? Why was it not applied at the initial appt?

5. If you as an owner and a business do not understand the reason for the review nor accept your shortcomings in this particular situation, then there is a serious problem.

6. Telling untruths by stating that I declined to make payment - now that is a new low!!!
