About Johanna Guerin Milliner
Johanna Guerin is an Australian milliner, with almost ten years experience in all aspects of headwear design and production. She has been working in London since early 2007.Johanna began her millinery training in 1998 at the Moreton Institute of TAFE, Brisbane, Australia, under the tutelage of renowned Australian milliner, Elizabeth R . She continued training alongside Elizabeth at Elizabeth's workshop in the historic Brisbane Arcade, whilst establishing her own label, johanna guerin. During this time, Johanna developed and refined her skills in the traditional methods of model millinery and blocking, which gave her the foundations on which to create her own millinery style. Johanna continued to work with Elizabeth until 2004 when she decided to step back from full-time millinery to study theatre production. This further developed her interest in costume and soft-prop design & construction while continuing to design and make couture millinery.During this time, Johanna met professional designer & costumer Vicki Martin who gave Johanna her first opportunity in the professional theatre environment as assistant costumer. Since then, she has worked as a costume milliner, costume designer & producer, soft props maker, and a stage designer & producer in both professional and amateur theatre environments.Over the last nine years, Johanna has appeared many times on television, in newspaper articles and on radio shows. Her headwear creations have won numerous "Fashions on the Field" awards and have been used for many photographic fashion shoots, fashion shows and art exhibitions. Her eye for detail and high quality of workmanship has resulted in Johanna's work being worn by clients to events across the world, from Australia to Europe, the USA and Russia. In addition to being worn to all major events on the Australian Horse Racing Event calendar, the johanna guerin label has been sought by clients for the Dubai World Cup and Royal Ascot events.
