About Lowan Homestead
Lowan Homestead is recognised as one of the earliest, outstanding properties of the south-east in South Australia. It was established in 1868. The house was built by Mr William Allen Crouch who was a great pioneer of the area. The name “Lowan” is the Aboriginal name for Malleefowl. The grand two storey Victorian mansion has been lovingly restored by the owners, both inside and out. Modern conveniences have been added without destroying the properties Victorian heritage. The house is surrounded by a beautiful English-themed garden and sprawling views of the countryside. The property is a private residence and the current owners are beef and sheep producers.
