About Historic Arnott Bakehouse

This landmark building was built in the 1830's and was added to over the next 100 years to what it is today. Now known as the oldest Scotch oven in the Southern Hemisphere, it was the work site of many bakers since.

During Morpeth's colonial heyday, the bakehouse was leased by David Arnott, William Arnott's younger brother and is the only oven operated by the Arnott family that is still standing today in the Maitland and Newcastle area.

The site is now home to Morpeth Sourdough, Sourdough Master classes with Stephen Arnott and the new William Arnott Boutique Hotel. All welcome to visit.
