This site is a real tear jerker with a narrative from Australian soldiers during the walk. There are 130 steps to the top of the memorial but has numerous historical displays on the walk that tell the story of a few diggers that were shipped to overseas battle fields for the major deployment area. If ambulatory skills are limited then there is a road that will take you to the top thus avoiding the steps. The war memorial is also located just a few minutes drive from here and is a must visit complex with lots of memorabilia to look at, souvenirs for sale as well books that tell of the heroic tales of the Australia Military Force. There is an excellent cafe/restaurant in the complex that has meals and drinks for sale there also.
