DO NOT STAY HERE!
Firstly please be aware that this is a weird set up. The ‘hotel’ is actually Oaks Elan, and Signatures on Woods is on the 13th floor. You are told not to talk the the reception at the Oaks, the ‘reception’ is virtual.
We had a family group staying, with a total of 4 rooms, all of the rooms had problems.
We booked a 2 bedroom apartment for 2 adults and 2 children. The room only had 2 double beds. Not the best of my teenage children.
The fridge was not working, I sent an email virtual reception to let them know and received a response to say someone would be there to fix it in the morning. No one came. I gave it another day and emailed again, I received an apology and told someone will be there the next day. Again no one.
The same thing happened 4 times. No one came to the apartment until my partner called and complained.
By this time, the air conditioner was leaking like a tap, and we had found that the BBQ also didn’t work.
When the manager arrived she was patronising and totally unaccommodating. I quote ‘most people don’t even use the fridge!’
I suggested a reasonable fix was to move us to another room, bring in a portable fridge or even an esky with ice, to no response.
She left saying that she would contact the owner and get back to us that day. She never got back to us. We called again to find out what had happened, the receptionist said that she would get the manager to call, I received an email from the operation director. The email stated that the fridge would be replaced after we had left. He offered to paid for the spoilt food, which I accepted but said it was not satisfactory for us not to have an operating fridge. The manager again wrote that he would reimburse the cost of the food, but there was nothing else he could do. When I again said that this was not acceptable he revoked the offer the offer to pay for the food. He offered a ridiculously low discount on the accommodation (this did not cover the cost of the food or the inconvenience). I have informed them that I would be taking the issue to consumer affairs. I quote this from his email ‘Every now and then you come across someone who does things a little out of the norm.’ Again a comment that I find condescending.
Entirely unsatisfied with our stay.
Darwin is beautiful though and full of amazing people. Just don’t stay here.
