We stayed in the Cathedral Suite, which was a stunning room, massive and modern, double sided fire place, two large tv's, really top level design. Staff were friendly and nice as well..... but.....

Our disappointment was that for the money, it really wasn't that well equiped and the offering poor, considering what you get else where in Adelaide (Mount Lofty house, is amazing). This is an old school model of a hotel (certainly not boutique), where you are charged for EVERYTHING, and they give you the bare minimum, even when you stay in the Suite.

2 small sachets of instant coffee, UHT milk, small bathroom amenities (think travel pack size), no bubble bath, disappointing when you have a stunning view and bath tub. There was a french press, but totally useless unless you have brought coffee with you. No charging mat next to the beds either for your phone... but lots of USB ports. I think a Nespresso machine or similar in the room is simply standard these for any hotel that calls itself Boutique.

Dinner at Bespoke was tasty (steak cooked well), but nothing amazing, long waits for everything. Staff very friendly though and apologetic (we didn't complain, they mentioned it!). We ate at 7.45pm, and I think we were one of the last sittings. Tables good size, and views of the Oval are good.

They started laying for breakfast next to us (around 8.45pm, only just eating our main) and they put all the crockery, jam's and other breakfast items that would go on our table as well next to us, as well as for the table behind. Eat up and get out! was the vibe we got.

Beer menu rubbish, clearly it is still under some licence agreement with the main ground.

Maybe because the hotel isn't on the members side of the ground, they can't offer any decent craft beers. Mini-bars are never great in any hotel, but $11 for a 330ml bottle of Heineken in your room! No non-alcoholic options, other than Heineken Zero for my partner who doesn't drink.... coke, orange juice, sparkling water the only real options, not very high-end. We went over to 2KW and the non-alcoholic cocktails were next level.

At breakfast you have to pay extra for a barista made coffee (Breakfast was included in our price), the rest of it was ok... although, offering a continental and al carte menu is a lot of food! (we chose not to have the continental). I think offering one or the other and a barista made coffee would be a better offering.

It is worth staying here for the rooms and location, but this isn't an experience or luxury hotel. Go prepared.... take your own tea's, coffee, milk, shower gel, bubble bath and in-room drinks (Alcoholic or Non-Alcoholic). If you like your Whiskey or spirits, the cut glass tumblers are brilliant, but just remember to take your own spirits!
