About Prairie Hotel & Outback Lodge

A place where the famous and infamous, locals and travellers share stories. Where the welcome is warm and the beer brewed in house. Where fine dining is sharing a flinders feral feast and a glass of shiraz. Where endless red plains dissolve into sienna sunsets. Where the destination is as big as the journey. Fourth generation Flinders Ranges pastoralist and cattleman Ross Fargher and wife Jane, bought their ‘local’ in 1991. They have created Australia’s quintessential, most awarded outback hotel. Radiating a welcoming, quirky, yet elegant country style, the hotel is an international landmark and destination in remote Parachilna, South Australia.. Storied option with rural dining. Contemporary to rustic lodging in a remote venue with a bar, bush-inspired dining & an art gallery.. In a remote village off Highway B83, this warm hotel dates from 1876. It's 25 km from the Brachina Gorge Geological Trail and 32 km from Flinders Ranges National Park.. Lodging options range from rooms and suites with either modern or rustic decor, to simple cabins. Some have shared bathroom facilities; upgraded rooms and suites may include living areas, wet bars, whirlpool baths and/or mountain views. Cabins have kitchenettes, while a 3-bedroom pug and pine cottage features a full kitchen and a BBQ area.. There's a restaurant serving rural Australian fare, as well as a bar, an art gallery and meeting/event facilities. Parking is complimentary.
