About Hunter Hwarangdo Association
The modern martial art of Hwa Rang Do was founded by two Korean brothers, Joo Bang Lee and Joo Sang Lee, who started their martial arts training with their father who taught them Judo and Kumdo at a young age.
The brothers trained with a monk called Suahm Dosa who in addition to teaching them fighting skills, gave them lessons in Korean culture.
The brothers moved south after the Korean war where they trained with Choi Yong-sool, a practitioner of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu and who is recognized as the father of modern Hapkido.
In 1968, Suahm Dosa died and left the title of "Do Ju" to Joo Bang Lee. The two brothers then took all their martial arts knowledge and generated the Hwa Rang Do syllabus as it continues today.
