Why isn't this place on the tourist guides? The Monastery has a temple that you can enter between 10:30 and 4:30 on weekends. It features the largest Jade Buddha in the southern hemisphere, tapestries and reliefs that tell the stories of the Buddha's life. It's a quiet place with a magnificent view. Anybody can enter (donation appreciated) but remember it is a religious place and to be quiet and respectful, and leave your shoes outside. The temple was built in the 2000s and is a good example of a modern Buddhist temple. The temple is the larger building, a short walk up the hill from the carpark.
