The chalet was clean, comfortable enough, and stocked appropriately, however, the service we received was less than sub-par in almost every aspect.
When we arrived to check in to the "office" (which was more of a hole in a window covered with a security grill), a man before us went to check-in. He explained that he had booked a week on air b&b, before he could even finish his sentence the woman at the window cut him off saying they don't take air BnB bookings. The man seemed quite shocked at the attitude of this woman, and instead of offering her apologies and trying to work out some kind of deal, she told him to take his grievances up with air BnB, and she walked away laughing.
I checked in after him and asked her about the pool on the website, as it says online to speak to the office should we wish to use it. When I began to ask about the pool she cut me off mid sentence and said "No it's private", and walked away. At least I didnt get laughed at, I suppose.
Kids disapppointed about the lack of pool and feeling slightly miffed, we tried to push past the poor first impressions and enjoy our stay. It was clean, stocked with milk, tea and coffee, a television and laundry powder to wash our clothes. Beds were comfortable enough to sleep in overnight. There were a few dead insects inside the kitchen cabinets and the bathroom sink took an hour to drain but I'd give the room itself a 3/5.
We stayed two nights, and were awakened rudely the second morning by loud knocking at the door. My partner got up and answered, and the woman who i had met at the "office" was standing there. She thrust an eftpos machine toward him and said "I'm going to need your credit card". Having just woken up we were very confused and shocked by how rude she was. No explanation, no conversation, just ordered to hand over our credit card.
Well, apparently what had happened was the room was accidentally booked for just one night. I understand that she may have been concerned that we would leave the premises without paying for the second night, but the right way to handle the situation would be to have a conversation about it and explain what was going on. I'm not sure why she thought it would be appropriate to wake up guests so rudely, but shes in the wrong profession.
Annoyed about her having woken us and the children up so early, we decided to leave then and there and to never return.
Handing over the key my partner spoke to the man who was more polite. He came and showed us the booking receipt and let us know that the pool was closed due to COVID restrictions, which is all understandable and would not have been such an issue if we had things explained to us, the way someone working in a service job and has paying guests should.
I would recommend this place for a person having to stay one or two nights for work, not very child friendly and not very friendly in general.
We were provided with care and 5 star accomodation after needing to evacuate in the evening from the recent Toodyay fires. Christina went out of her way to make sure we all felt comfortable and safe. Beautiful, very comfortable and spotlessly clean accomodation. Highly recommended, thankyou Christina God bless.
