About Melbourne Tram Museum

Since 1885, Melbourne has been one of the world’s great tramway cities. Explore the history of trams and the contribution they have made to the place where we live, in the most authentic tramway museum in Australia: the heritage-listed Hawthorn Tram Depot.

We are open to visitors on the second and fourth Saturday of every month (except for December, when we are only open on the second Saturday), and selected Wednesdays during the year. Consult the visitors' page on our website for more details.
