If you enjoy the atmosphere of arid/desert country, this place is for you. We completed the 9km loop walk at dawn, leaving the parking area about 30mins before the sun rose. The sunrise colours across the landscape were beautiful. I think that this walk would not be so special in the middle of the day, but could potentially be quite nice in the late afternoon . The loop is best completed in a clockwise direction. Depending on where the water levels are in the lake, you may not reach the shore of the lake on this walk. This was the case for us. Our binoculars however revealed an incredible wealth of birdlife on the lake - lots of different ducks and waterbirds, and more black swans than I have ever seen in one place. This walk won't be for everyone, but we loved it.
