About Anton Rook Memorial Reserve
This used to be a beautiful irrigated reserve, families would picnic and play here en masse before walking down to the drive-in cinema.
It is since a relatively untended and unirrigated reserve enjoyed by kids, dogs and also used as a thoroughfare. Prickles, dust and invasive weeds currently reign.
The potential of the public space is huge and we're lucky to have it. Particularly if it is one day appreciated and tended to properly by City of Onkaparinga again.
When one looks at the water piped down to Seaford Heights andMcLaren Vale immediately before it enters the suburb on the border of Morphett Vale and Christie Downs, it is more difficult to understand why irrigation was ceased for this park. The old irrigation lines can be seen.
