Dr Field graduated from Monash University, 1980 and worked as a General Practitioner in rural Queensland, third world PNG and suburban Melbourne until 1988. He trained as an Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital for three years and then did a Fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Disease at John Hopkins Hospital, USA. He worked as a Senior Registrar at Southampton Eye Hospital, UK, before commencing private practice at Cairns Eye and Laser Clinic in 1994. His areas of special interest include cataract surgery, pterygium surgery as well as medical retina. Dr Field regularly presents at Optometry Conferences and lectures on cataracts, pterygia and macular disease.
