Disappointed. I had an eye test today. I decided that I would get a pair of distance glasses with transition lenses and anti reflective coating. Barry, the optometrist, told me the transition lenses and reflective coating would cost $270. I went ahead and ordered the glasses. When I got home I decided to ring another optometrist to find out what they charge and I was told anywhere between $230 - $250. I rang Barry Tucker and told him I wanted to cancel the glasses because I could get the transition lenses and reflective coating cheaper elsewhere, and I would like my prescription. I went to pick up the prescription and was told by the receptionist the $270 was for transition lenses, anti reflecting coating and grind lense, and I was also charged $40 for retinal photograph, which they didn't charge in the first place. I then went to Kingsway Optometrists who told me I did not need to have the grind lense and they only charged $230 for the transition lenses and anti reflective coating. They also told me they do not charge for retinal photograph. I would not recommend Ballajura Optometrist after this.
Barry & the staff are incredibly friendly. Barry is there for the patient, not himself and it shows. He referred me as an emergency on a late afternoon for the same day treatment at a specialist to remove a piece of metal from my eye that he couldn't deal with himself. It was tolerable to go another day for myself with it in there but he went that extra mile and rushed me out his clinic to have it done within the hour at the specialist, all booked by himself right there and then. He later followed up with a phone call to check how it went. Thank you mate.
