Thank you to the staff at Kalamunda Optical especially Guy. Guy identified an issue with my eye and I was quickly refered to Lions eye institute for a laser proceedure. Thank you Guy
The admin clerk, a short lady with curly hair, told me she was unable to provide me with my prescription because it was expired. She explained there were legal implications for the business if she did so. She did, however, offer to re-fulfil my expired prescription on site, explaining that Kalamunda Optical was willing to be responsible for this.
The The Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (2009) 2.3 states, however:
“ Patients have a right to a copy of their prescription even when it is expired. A prescription supplied to a patient after the expiry date should be clearly marked ‘expired’.”
Overall the business practice felt very shady, and throughout my whole interaction I felt as though the admin clerk was trying to deceive me to keep my business. I won’t be returning.
