I painted a room in my house and hired Esmat to replicate what I had done in other areas of my house. I showed him the room I painted, so he had a visual example of what I wanted. He said he could do the same. He asked if he could use a cheaper brand of paint that was the same colour. I said that was okay. He used a cheaper brand of paint that had the same name but was a very different colour. He didn't tell me this before he started painting so I didn't find out until it was finished. If he had told me before he started I would have told him not to use that paint. When I brought it up with him he said "not my problem". When I asked him how much it would cost to paint it the colour I initially showed him, he said $1200. He also used most of our expensive paint to paint the ceilings and then lied about using it (I have no idea why) so we are unable to use that paint to correct the problem.
Additionally, the job wasn't finished completely (see pictures of bedroom ceiling) and the paint started peeling in areas after 24 hours (see pictures). He did offer to fix these issues but at this point I had lost confidence in his ability and felt like he had been rude to me when he dismissed my concerns about the colour.
I asked for a partial refund because the job wasn't finished, the paint was the wrong colour and the paint had started peeling and he refused to give me anything back. I honestly felt like a partial refund was a fair request given the circumstances. We've since had an accredited Deluxe painter look at Esmat's painting and he has said it was a very poor job. I would recommend hiring someone else and if you do choose to take a chance with him, definitely do not pay up front.
