I waited 1 hour for a PCR test in order to travel on a flight tomorrow with my Travel Referral documents paid for at $150 online. I walked up and waited at the designated spot for walk-ins alongside another gentleman who had been waiting for 15 min prior to my arrival. After 45 minutes and after multiple walk-in patients arrived, I asked the man directing cars if anyone was there to assist us. Understandably it was around lunchtime but there was no sign of when someone would return. He walked around the car park a bit then said they’re at lunch and will come assist in 5 minutes. I also called the number attached to the clinic to which the operator was getting in contact with the manager, Laura and advised me to make sure I was at the right spot for waiting for which I was. Finally someone assisted after the man working at the car park grabbed someone from the drive thru line.
The gentleman was very kind and apologized for the wait. I asked about prioritization for which he said we prioritize cars who had been in long wait times. I told him I had been sitting there longer than many cars and the prioritization may need to be re-evaluated especially when one pays $150 for a test.
As a suggestion for future patients, please post a sign of return should the workers take a lunch or please take lunches in shifts.
This was a very unpleasant experience that could’ve been alleviated with proper management in place.
