I took my little son to Kelly McEwan Photography for a surprise photo shoot for my wife's birthday. The baby was being a little monkey, but Kelly was calm, professional and encouraging the whole time. Somehow she managed to get amazing photos, capturing exactly what I wanted, even though I didn't really know what I wanted beforehand. Needless to say, my wife was hugely impressed with the results. We use Kelly McEwan Photography for all our family photo sessions and she comes with our highest recommendation.

Kelly is the most easy-going yet professional photographer I have ever worked with. I first met Kelly when we signed up as guinea pigs for birth photography – it wasn’t something i’d ever considered, but after our experience with Kelly, I’ll be doing it again with all of our future children! After patiently waiting for hours, Kelly got incredible photos of our precious baby boy from the second he was born, without us even realising she was there! She made a beautiful slideshow of the photos that makes me cry every time I watch it, and captured our personalities perfectly with the backing track she chose.

After our incredible experience with the birthing shoot, we saw her a few weeks later for a newborn shoot. Our opinion of Kelly and her services only improved! Not only was she patient, but encouraged us take as long as we wanted feeding, changing and playing with our baby to ensure that all of us were relaxed and comfortable enough to get perfect photos. She had no problem with ‘accidents’ and laughed along with us! She had amazing props and ideas that I never would have thought of, and knew exactly how to position our baby (and us) to take photos that look like they belong in an Anne Geddes calendar! I had taken James to another photographer with a voucher a week earlier (first time mum!) and had left feeling tired and disappointed after they had tried to squeeze us into a one hour slot with one (boring) black cushion as a prop, during which James cried the whole time, couldn’t relax, and there was nowhere comfortable to feed him. When I went back to view the photos (I purchased none), I sat through the tedious viewing and thought ‘thank goodness we went and got decent photos with Kelly! That’s another thing I love about Kelly – instead of having to make the trek back to the studio (as you do with many other photographers), Kelly posts the photos online for you to view, and does it in a much shorter time frame than any other service I’ve tried. She also usually uploads one photo within 24hours so that you not only feel relief that the session went even better than you thought, but extra excited about seeing the other photos in the near future.

Since then, we have been back for a 3 month, 6 month, 9 month/Christmas-themed, Easter-themed (with a real live bunny!), Cake-Smash, Beach and 1year old photo shoots! Yes – it sounds crazy when you list it all out like that, but every time, Kelly amazes us with the incredible photos she takes and the way she makes us all (James included!) so comfortable. She also never shies from the carload (literally) of props and outfits that I bring for each shoot and is always super excited about the different (crazy!) ideas that we have.

Photos of our baby boy (especially considering the way he grows so quickly at this age) have been the best gift we have given ourselves – and it’s all thanks to Kelly. We now have immortal memories of these precious times, a family photographer that we can trust, and a new family friend!
