Several years ago I suffered considerable damage to my face that left me severely disfigured as a result. This made me very self-conscious and impacted my confidence and willingness to engage with others in any social setting.

I did too much in too one hit (one and done was my aim -30%- breast reduction, hernia, muscle damage repair, lipo, tummy tuck, ), I was out of hospital in 2 days and came off all painkillers in a week. That was too soon and i didn't allow enough time off work for a decent recovery. I didn't factor in how tired I would be because sleeping was difficult. My advice is to allow at least a month for major surgery and get someone to cook and drive you around for 6 weeks because you can't drive or lift anything . Use ice packs as the cold helped with swelling and pain as my abdo felt hot. Once the wounds healed the ocean was my best source for comfort and healing.

After 2 1/2 months I can now say I totally made the right decision. Don't evaluate your decision until you've allowed a few months to heal. I feel great now. I've resumed exercise. I can wear any size 12 clothes and they all look good. At 60 I can even wear a bikini. The scarring is fading very quickly. I use scar cream and massage the scar tissue twice daily.

The surgery has given me confidence in myself and my body image and that is priceless. I wish I'd done it 20 years ago.
