Could and should be so much better for a "super school".
The education provided to students truly does depend on what the students want to learn and don't. Certain classes are backed up with ethical, open minded teachers which is great, other seem to be the rudest people you'll ever meet.
Students with little sense of direction don't receive the necessary support they require either. Teachers are encouraged to be more concerned with uniform than education. Uniform prices are similar to what you'd find in a a private school. $60 for a jacket, $90 for a year 12 jacket with NO hoodie and $30 for a basic shirt. You CANNOT being wearing headwear indoors otherwise they'll make your whole world come crashing down.
The smartphone policy is futile. Students ideally aren't allowed to use their smartphones for music.
Students who fail to handover their phone during are suspended also. If the student isn't cooperating at all then so be it. But I've firsthand been threatened with suspension after refusing to hand over my phone for simply switching a song.
The canteen is unbelievably overpriced. Bringing food to school, best way to go. Buying from the canteen is burning yourself, 600ml drinks are almost $5, trays of food the size of your phone fall under the same category. There are no discounts for ordering multiple of the same item also. If you want 6 cookies, then you'll be paying $6.
The school provides laptops, something that's become an expectation. The laptops pack as much power as a digital watch. They'll waste 30 seconds of your time to open File Explorer. Another 30 to open just about any other program you want and you MUST be careful on what you're trying to open. This school is apparently flawless partners with SmoothWall, a program in place to limit students on resources can and can't be accessed. Limitation is understatement, this program has made it impossible to access educational sites needed for the completion of an assignment. Some sites are unaffected, typically not relevant ones.
Students can and do go through their entire high schooling here and I applaud those students.
There are expectations not being met and an education being provided in a fashion deemed unstable by students. You'll be damned to go a day without seeing at least 15 students out of class in total receiving no support for their issues. If they won't accept help or communicate about their issues then it should be looked into further.
