TL:DR - Dr Lim and her amazing staff changed my life by correcting my daughter's tongue tie

Being a parent is a tough gig. Nothing prepares you for the struggle that comes with having a child. Being a first time mum, I had no concept of why I was struggling. My child had been looked over in hospital at birth, two nurses, an LC and a doctor. None of them diagnosed my daughter with any oral dysfunction. I had a child who cried constantly, had trouble latching, awful reflux, was windy and did not respond to infacol.

We were desperate to avoid medication and I was close to putting her on a script when by chance, another mother who had children with tongue ties listened to my story. She directed me towards Motherhood Coaching Services, and Leonie assessed my daughter for tongue ties. She found two possible ties and gave me a list of recommended providers.

We chose to go with Dr Lim and I am eternally grateful that we did. From the very first phone call, her office was lovely. When I called, my daughter was actually in the middle of one of her screaming fits from pain. Their staff were very patient, sent through information promptly (while I was on the phone) and explained that if Dr Lim would be able to complete the frenectomy on the same day if she presented with tongue ties and I was ready. I booked for two weeks to give myself time but after another sleepless night, I rung again and booked in for that Friday.

As part of the information I was sent through, it was recommended that I have my daughter seen by an osteo. After my own research, I made my the decision to undertake osteo sessions. It was recommended that I see one before my daughter was seen by Dr Lim but in fact, every provider was booked out and unavailable. That spoke volumes for me.

When I presented for my appointment, I immediately noticed a family leaving Sparkle. They were so happy and were thanking Dr Lim profusely for their follow up appointment. I was filling in my documentation and the staff were so friendly, offered my husband and I refreshments and immediately were engaging with my daughter. I was shown into a room where Dr Lim immediately asked for my daughter's history, asked specific questions regarding her feeding and was so thorough. We had the opportunity to ask questions and she answered every one to our satisfaction. She diagnosed our daughter with an anterior and posterior tongue tie and asked if we wanted to go ahead, which we did. Afterwards, we were shown to a room and given all the time we needed to settle her and feed. When she latched, I noticed an immediate improvement, her suck was so much stronger. I was shocked to have such an immediate improvement on the day and was ecstatic. The aftercare support was amazing too. Dr Lim provided her number where I had access to contact her at any time. I sent her pictures when I was concerned about something over the weekend, and she immediately responded and set my mind at ease.

My daughter improved so much more with the stretches Dr Lim recommended and along side with osteo appointments at Melville osteopathy, changed remarkably. We had our follow up appointment and everything was great. A few weeks after our follow up appointment, our osteo Dr Meyers was concerned about possible reattachment. I asked Dr Lim and she was happy to have another follow up appointment where she did see a tightening but it was caused by scar tissue and did not need another correction.

We have no more nights were she is screaming from dusk til dawn in pain from wind. She is latching and feeding so much better. She is a completely different baby. I truly believe that the osteo appointments were integral to her remarkable improvement and will still continue to have my daughter have sessions regularly to help her as she grows and develops. All in all, I highly recommend Dr Lim and her staff. My daughter will always attend Sparkle, even though it is an hour drive from us. She changed my daughter's life for the better and that is priceless. I can't ever thank her enough and am so grateful we chose her to see her.
