As well as being considerably cheaper than petrol, equally as safe and better for the environment, LPG also provides performance and fuel economy comparable with modern petrol and diesel powered engines. Torque is available at lower engine revs, which aids drive-ability and power output of engines.
LPG is also a cleaner burning fuel than petrol and therefore no fuel carbon deposits are formed which means less engine wear and a longer engine life.
From a maintenance standpoint, the advantages of LPG over petrol include:
· Fewer oil and filter changes
· ZERO sludge formation in engines
· Longer exhaust life
· Cleaner spark plugs
· Cylinder walls are never washed dry
· No lubricating oil dilution occurs
Safety Feaures of LPG include:
The system is sealed. LPG cannot spill out if the vehicle overturns.
The LPG gas tank design is a high quality, extremely strong pressure vessel.
There is also a manual valve to easily isolate the LP gas tank.
If the engine stops or the ignition is turned off, the fuel supply is locked at the LPG gas solenoid and also at the LPG gas lock at the front of the vehicle.
In case of a fire a safety valve will prevent over pressurisation of the tank by a controlled venting of the cylinder contents.
LPG gas has a very distinct smell. An odorant called ethylene mercaptan is added to LPG gas to make it easy to detect if there is even the slightest leak.
The environmental advantages of LPG for automotive use are indisputable.
LPG has an excellent safety record throughout Australia and the world, both in terms of its storage, transportation and use. Extensive safety tests have been undertaken with respect to its use and the conclusions reached are that it is substantially safer than petrol due to its more robust fuel tank being more resistant to crash damage.

“What I paid for and what I received were two different things!
The fuel economy was 25% less then what I was promised; and have taken my car back 6 times and the problem is still not resolved! They have also left scratch marks down the side of my drivers door.
I have sent emails and leave voicemails, however I do not get responses.
I am not impressed by their service and product, and would not recommend Smithy's LPG to anyone.”
“Great service, very through with their safety checks. Affordable prices for servicing, dealer quoted $800+ for a service, right way did it for $259”
“Do not go there, its a complete rip off. He quoted me 4000 $ to do timing chain kit with labour, other mechanic quoted 1500 $ for parts and labour. Overall bad service.”
“Steer clear of this dodgy mechanic and his wife as they are complete scammers... Tried to hit me up for multiple parts that were not faulty to get rwc. Should be investigated by today tonight as their business practices are highly questionable! Took in a smokey motor and came out with a heavily worn clutch, and with 35ks on the odo. Vic (the old guy running the joint) says "not my problem". Just take a look at the workshop and decide for yourself.
“had my car repaired by them they did a great job after i had taken it to other mechanics around geelong who supposedly fixed the problem ,but didn't ,only fixed my bank balance , they got the car and found and fixed the problem . at alot less cost.”
“Nice people to do business with. Did everything I asked them to do and their price was less than I expected. My car was ready when they said it would be too.”
“Pushy, impatient, thinks they know everything - about 30% overpriced”
