On this site you will find a number of diagrammatic maps of parts of Australia. These maps show EVERY passenger railway and EVERY station served by passenger trains. All metropolitan services including light rail, as well as all country and interstate services are covered. The maps indicate the routes taken as well as the journey times and service frequency (number of trains per hour, per day or per week as the case may be). Most ferry services are included as well as some airport connection road bus routes where no rail service is provided. Also included are the growing number of passenger carrying tourist railways.
To move from one page to another, simply click the map in the areas indicated to view a more detailed map of that part of the country. You can pan to an adjacent map by clicking on the arrows on the map edge. When you click on a train line, we'll show you details of the route, including where it stops, how long it takes, how often it runs, and we link to online timetables from the operator
Australia's passenger railway system offers tourists and residents a modern, safe and convenient form of travel. There are numerous separate passenger train and tram operators in Australia offering services ranging from intensive suburban and metropolitan commuter trains and electric street tramways in major cities, to commuter trains and long distance interstate and luxury trans-continental journeys. The trains are high quality and all operators have reasonable on-line information about their services, but often their information is not co-ordinated. This site seeks to be a reference hub for anyone wishing to plan a rail or bus trip in Australia - whether from one suburb to another or a trans-continental odyssey you will find the information here. We link to official web-sites of train and bus operators as well as to some excellent unofficial sites too.
Our Journey planner includes all train, ferry and inter-town bus routes in the country. Whether you need to travel from Sydney to Perth, Brisbane Airport to Surfers Paradise, Parramatta to Manly or Yackandandah to Tangambalanga - we can find the buses, trains and ferries to get you there. And we link to the latest detailed timetable and online booking services for each and every route for all operators all from one easy screen. Check out our database statistics to see how many routes, stations and operators we have on line, and where people are travelling - click here.

“I wish to register a complaint about Penrith Railway Station. On Thursday, 5th April 2012, upon leaving the train that arrives at 6PM, only 2 turnstyles were in operation. As a result of this, some 300 people had to line up behind each other in order to get through the turnstyles. As this happens quite infrequently, could you please see what can be done to rectify the problem.”
“The train that leaves central for the Blue Mountains at 5.06 PM, is hardly ever cleaned by the cleaners. The first four carriges, are quite often left with all kinds of rubbish littering the seats, and the floors of the carriges. Could you please make sure the cleaners, attend this problem.
