“The college offers a comprehensive list of photography courses and I went on board for the full time professional training for a year. Very extensie and practical approach, however there is too much focus on film photography as opposed to digital (80% film 20% digital). There is also a need to refine the teaching approach to genuinely bring out the potential in every artist. I felt that there was little appreciation for my work and lack of moral support for my peers. There was also too much work load and assignments which made the whole course too highly stressful. The approach needs to go with the current time with the focus on digital photography so there is no more wasting of time, money, and effort on darkroom materials. I suggest for those contemplating to go for the full time training to do your homework and research extensively. Connect with former students via facebook with the group "Brisbane College of Photography & Art" I think that will help you more...
P.S. for the sake of protecting my privacy I am unable to provide my real name however, my fellow peers would definitely understand why! Goodluck!”
